Softball Roundup: Northern Lebanon rallies past Central


The Northern Lebanon softball team picked up a huge come-from-behind win on Thursday, rallying for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to upend Manheim Central, 6-5, in a Section Three clash in Fredericksburg.

The Vikings (2-2, 2-1 Section Three) appeared headed for defeat after the Barons used a three-run top of the seventh to grab a 5-3 lead.

But Northern Lebanon was undeterred, getting an RBI single from Erica Dulac and a two-run walk-off single from Cortney Hostetter to pull out the dramatic win.

Katie Hossler, Molly Mount and Dulac led a 12-hit Viking attack and Molly Mount earned the win on the mound for Northern Lebanon.

ANNVILLE-CLEONA 19, COLUMBIA 0 (5 INNINGS) >> In Columbia, A-C roughed up the Crimson Tide with 21 hits and a five-inning no-hitter from Hannah Fischer.

The lopsided gave A-C a fourth straight victory to open the season and a combined 51-1 margin of victory in those wins.

Mindy Reigle homered and drove in three runs and Veronica Wampler smacked four hits and drove in two to lead the offense, while Fischer struck out six and walked two en route to her abbreviated no-hitter.

CEDAR CREST 5, MCCASKEY 2 >> In Lancaster, the Falcons picked up their first win of the season as well as put up their first runs to upend McCaskey.

Maddie Gable tossed a complete game seven-hitter on the mound and was supported by an 11-hit attack as Crest improved to 1-2 overall and in Section One.

Also on Thursday, Elco fell to Donegal, 13-3, Conestoga Valley blanked Lebanon by a 13-0 count and Pequea Valley routed Lebanon Catholic 22-0 in three innings.
