Palmyra girls third at Mid-Penn, Gelgot leads Crest at L-L Championship


A big day from sophomore Maddie Wolfe gave Palmyra a third place finish in the Mid Penn Championships Friday.

Wolfe placed seventh in the 50 freestyle in 25.15, while also helping Palmyra's 200 yard freestyle and 200 medley relay teams to fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively. The 200 freestyle team of Wolfe, Samantha St. Clair, Shealyn Trostle and Ellie Keck finished in 1:40.01. The 200 yard medley relay team of Wolfe, Kate Hess, Abby Hess, and Kate Sanborn finished in 1:54.62.

The Palmyra boys team finished 11th, led by Tanner Yaw who placed eighth in the 100 butterfly in 55.42, and was seventh in the 50 free in 22.50.

At the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship at the Lititz RecCenter Friday, a fifth place finish from Caitlyn Gelgot in the 50 freestyle gave Cedar Crest a fifth place finish.

Gelgot earned the fifth place finish in the 50 free in 24.79, while Manheim Townships Meredith Newman won the event in 23.80. Gelgot also placed sixth for the Falcons in the 100 free in 55.12, with Newman also winning that event in 52.01. Jadyn Bord finished eighth in the 200 free in 2:06.01 for the Falcons. In the 100 backstroke, Krysta Weik placed seventh in 1:11.03 for Cedar Crest.
