ROUNDUP: Crest girls set for title defense

The time has come for the Cedar Crest girls basketball team to defend its Lancaster-Lebanon League title.

It looks like the Falcons are ready.

Reigning L-L champ Cedar Crest tuned up for next week's title defense by handling Penn Manor 39-26 in South Lebanon on Tuesday night.

The Falcons, who close out the regular season at 19-2 overall and 15-1 in Section One, jumped to a 14-4 first-quarter lead on Tuesday night and were never threatened from there.

Alyssa Austin led all scorers with 15 points and Sky Yancey chipped in with nine points.

Cedar Crest will host Section Three runner-up Cocalico in an L-L playoff opener on Monday night.

Northern Lebanon 39, Manheim 26:  In Manheim, the Section Three champion Vikings wrapped up their thrill ride of a regular season with their 21st win of the winter.

Now 21-1 overall and bound for a league playoff opener at home against Section One runner-up Manheim Township on Monday, Northern Lebanon outscored the Barons 21-10 after intermission to turn a tight game into a double-digit margin of victory.

Megan Brandt led the charge for Northern Lebanon with 15 points and Zoe Zerman contributed 11 points.

Elco 50, Donegal 47: In Myerstown, the Raiders wrapped up their Section Three slate with a come-from-behind triumph over the Indians.

Down 41-34 after three quarters, Elco outscored the visitors 16-6 over the final eight minutes to claim the victory. Freshman forward Ryelle Shuey led the way with 18 points and senior Chandelle Keller added 17, including nine free throws in the fourth quarter as the Raiders improved to 14-7 overall and closed out their section record at 10-6.

Lebanon Catholic 64, Columbia 54: On Assumption Hill, the Beavers prepped for next week's L-L playoff opener against Ephrata by washing away the Crimson Tide behind 25 points from Neesha Pierre.

Allie Warren backed up Pierre with 14 points and Jayden Shellehamer pitched in with 12 to help Catholic improve to 15-5 overall and wrap up Section Four play at 11-5.

Lebanon 60, Garden Spot 45: At Lebanon High, the Cedars halted a disheartening 12-game losing streak behind a 26-point outburst from Alexis Hill.

The Section Two finale win left Lebanon 5-16 overall and 4-12 in the section ahead of Thursday's season finale against Hershey. Maddy Hartman added 13 points to the win and Jasmine Turner chipped in with nine points and three 3-point baskets.

Lancaster Catholic 61, Annville-Cleona 25: In Lancaster, A-C's season came to an end on a lopsided losing note thanks to the Section Four champ Crusaders.

Closing out the 2015-16 season at 6-16 overall and 4-12 in Section Four, A-C was led by six points apiece by Hannah Fischer and Steph Inman.

Caroline Scarff led Catholic with 20 points.
