Annville-Cleona takes down Mennonite, 40-29


The Annville-Cleona girls basketball team held Lancaster Mennonite without a point in the second quarter on the way to a 40-29 Section Four win in Lancaster on Tuesday night.

Now 3-8 overall and 2-5 in the section, A-C led 13-12 after the opening quarter, then pitched an 8-0 shutout in the second on the way to the win. Meredith Bachman paced the Little Dutchmen with 13 points and Hannah Fischer added nine to the victory.

Lebanon Catholic 55, Pequea Valley 30: On Assumption Hill, the Beavers jumped to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter and cruised from there en route to their fifth straight win.

Allie Warren led the way with 14 points and Mariah Sholly chipped in with 13 as Catholic improved to 9-3 overall and 4-3 in Section Four.

Elizabethtown 41, Lebanon 30: At Lebanon High, the Cedars' struggles continued in a fourth straight loss.

Jasmine Turner was a bright spot in defeat for Lebanon (4-8, 3-4 Section Two) with 10 points.

Marena Lonardi paced E-town with 15 points.

Susquehanna Township 44, Palmyra 41: In Harrisburg, the Cougars' five-game win streak came to an end after a seven-point halftime lead disappeared.

Now 6-5 overall, Palmyra canned eight 3-pointers in the loss, five of which came from Molly Gundermann, who finished with a game-high 17 points.

Covenant Christian 38, New Covenant 28: In Ebenezer, the Flames saw a two-point halftime lead dissolve into a 10-point loss.

Kylie Murray had a big game for New Covenant, tallying 17 of her team's 27 points.
