Roundup: Cedar Crest girls open 20-2 lead in big win


The Cedar Crest girls basketball team won handily over Conrad Weiser on Tuesday, 52-31, in the opening round of the Eastern York Rotary Tournament.

Cedar Crest (8-1, 5-1 Lancaster-Lebanon) went up 20-2 after the first quarter and maintained an advantage for the rest of the evening. Ariel Jones scored 20 points for the Falcons. The only other double-digit scorer for the Falcons was Alyssa Austin, who finished with 11.

Cedar Crest will face Eastern York Wednesday night for the tournament championship. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Eastern York High School.

Elco 59, Donegal 33: The Raiders (5-4, 3-3 Lancaster-Lebanon) rolled in the consolation game of the Pine Grove holiday tournament, toppling a Section Three foe in the process. Chandelle Keller scored 16 points, trailed closely by Ryelle Shuey (13 points) and Julia Nelson (11 points). Elco led 36-16 at halftime, troubled only by Carly Diffenderfer's 13 points.
