Cedar Crest cruises in L-L opener


The Cedar Crest girls' basketball team is the reigning Lancaster-Lebanon League champion and a prime candidate to grab some more hardware this season.

And the Falcons have done nothing to discourage that notion through the first three games.

Crest opened L-L play in domination fashion on Friday night, routing Solanco 63-37 in a Section One-Two crossover in Quarryville.

Now 3-0, the Falcons jumped to a 21-5 first-quarter lead and cruised home from there. Alyssa Austin led the way with 23 points, Ariel Jones added 14 and Skyanne Yancey checked in with 11

Lebanon 47, Manheim Township 46: In Neffsville, it was the Alexis Hill Show as the Cedars squeaked past the Blue Streaks in Section One-Two crossover action.

Now 2-1 overall, Lebanon fended off Section One rep Township with the additional help of eight Maddy Hartman points, as well as 13-for-18 free throw shooting.

Northern Lebanon 53, Pequea Valley 38: In Kinzers, the Vikings improved to 4-0 in the early going behind 22 points from Zoe Zerman. Megan Brandt added 11 points to the win for NL, which put the game away with a 17-8 run through the second quarter.

Cocalico 52, Annville-Cleona 31: In Denver, A-C endured a scoreless first quarter en route to falling to 1-2 in the early going.

Meredith Bachman led A-C with 14 points.

Lower Dauphin 33, Palmyra 19: In Palmyra, the Cougars dropped to 1-3 after a low-scoring affair with arch rival LD.

Molly Gundermann led Palmyra with six points.
