Manheim Central field hockey defeats L-S in OT


In Lampeter Twp., Manheim Central’s Codi Bollinger tallied the game-winner 7:54 into overtime to defeat the host Pioneers, 2-1.

Lampeter-Strasburg (1-2 Section Two, 4-2 overall) broke a scoreless tie on Hanna Garber’s breakaway goal eight minutes into the second half, assisted by Madison Shreckengast. But Manheim Central (3-0, 5-1) rallied with nine unanswered shots to close out the half and overtime, including Hannah Barbush’s equalizer with 18:30 to play in regulation.

Manheim Central, which picked up a pair of assists from Lauren Hartzler, finished with a 15-1 advantage in corners and outshot L-S 13-3. Goalkeeper Kassidy Breneman stopped two first-half shots for the Barons while Autumn Peters had 11 saves for the Pioneers.
