It was Jesse Cruise's final go-round, and the first try for Ryan McCallister and Lily Brubaker.

Saturday's PIAA Cross Country Championships meant different things to Lebanon County's trio of qualifiers, but what the three had in common was very respectable performances while competing against the best runners the state has to offer.

Cedar Crest's Cruise, a senior, closed out a distinguished career by placing 41st in the Boys AAA race with a time of 16:52, while Elco junior McCallister took 81st in the Boys AA race, completing his state meet debut in a time of 17:54.

Meanwhile, Lebanon County champ Brubaker closed out a stellar sophomore campaign - her first season running cross country - by placing 42nd with a time of 20:27.

The top Lancaster-Lebanon League performer at states was McCaskey's Nathan Henderson, who was the runner-up in Boys AAA in 15:48.

Also on Saturday, Christina DiFalco of Pine Grove was second in the Girls A race in 19:22.
