Tull, Clary fall in first round of state tennis

Ben Clary and Dylan Tull enjoyed spectacular freshman tennis seasons this spring.

That's always the case when your final match of the season takes place at the PIAA State Championships.

And so it was for Tull and Clary on Friday as they each bowed out of the 3A state singles tourney in the first round.

Mid-Penn champ Clary of Palmyra fell to Michael Dickson of Downingtown East in the first round by a 6-1, 6-1 score, while Cedar Crest's Tull, the 3A district singles runner-up, dropped a three-set decision to Alex Thomas of Cathedral Prep, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
