Tull, Muraika, Paris headed to L-L semis

Nick Tull and Jack Muraika have a few things in common - they're teammates on the Cedar Crest boys tennis team, as well as double partners.

And now, Lancaster-Lebanon League Flight One singles semifinalists.

With a pair of straight-sets victories apiece, Tull and Muraika advanced to the L-L Flight One Class AAA semifinals during the opening rounds of play at Conestoga Valley on Thursday.

Fresh off wining his first Lebanon County singles crown on Monday, No. 3 seed Tull knocked off Jake Curtin of Hempfield in the first round by a 6-3, 6-2 score, before topping Galen Fitzkee of Manheim Central 7-5, 6-1 to gain a spot in Saturday's semis opposite No. 2 Griffin Clark of Manheim Township.

Meanwhile, Muraika joined his teammate in the semis with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Noah Comeaux of Conestoga Valley in the first round, followed by a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Cocalico's Conner Martin. He'll face top-seeded Calvin Athey of Hempfield in the semis.

Due to expected bad weather, both the semifinals and finals in Flight One singles only will be contested on Saturday at CV, beginning at 8:15 a.m. The finals in all other flight are still set for Monday.

Also gaining a singles semifinal spot from Lebanon County on Thursday was Annville-Cleona's Santi Paris in Flight Four.

One-half of the Lebanon County Flight One doubles champs with William Klatchko, Paris bested Cedar Crest's Evan Dissinger 6-0, 6-1 in the opening round, then picked up a second-round victory over Max Brubaker of Lancaster Mennonite by the same 6-0, 6-1 score.
