Rhoades Classic set for Saturday at LVC

Local high school boys hoops fans will get to enjoy a tripleheader's worth of action, and all for a good cause when the 8th annual Rhoades Classic makes its return to Lebanon Valley College on Saturday.

The event, named in honor of former State Senator James Rhoades, who died after a car accident in 2008, supports the Rhoades Foundation, which provides academic scholarships to deserving high school students. Rhoades was the father of former LVC star Mike Rhoades, who led the Flying Dutchmen to the 1994 National Championship and is now the head coach at Rice.

Saturday's schedule begins with Annville-Cleona taking on Mahanoy Area at 5 p.m., followed by Cedar Crest vs. Lower Dauphin at 6:30, and Palmyra battling Lebanon at 8 p.m. in the nightcap. That slate will be preceded by a collegiate doubleheader between the LVC men and women and Albright. The men's game begins at 1, with the women to follow at 3.
