Lampeter-Strasburg advances in PIAA tournament

Lampeter-Strasburg advanced to the second round of the PIAA Class AAA boys’ basketball playoffs Friday night after defeating Berwick (District 2),56-37 at Crestwood High School in Mountain Top.

"It feels great. This is our first state tournament win in a while so we wanted it bad," senior guard Matt Achille said. "We knew we had a good first draw and felt really good coming into this game.

Achille led L-S with 20 points.

"We were able to get the basket fairly easily. They didn't play much zone and we had some size on them so we thought we could get some mismatches inside with Ben, Luke, and I," Achille said. "'Dribble-drive' also worked very well and that opened up the outside for a few guys to knock down some outside shots".

The Pioneers will now face the winner of Delaware Valley Charter/Gettyburg next Tuesday at a time and location to be determined.

"We will prepare for whoever wins. Gonna be tough games no matter what," Achille said. "I know our coaches will get us ready for whoever we have to play. We are determined to make some more noise."
