READING- History was made Thursday afternoon when Ephrata claimed its first ever District 3 Class AAAA title with a 7-4 win over Governor Mifflin.

A win of such epic proportion of course wouldn’t come without its hills and valleys however.

The Mounts took an initial 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second via RBIs from Nick Auker and Evan Frees and Patrick Gallagher stealing home.

Dillon Good tallied the fourth Ephrata run in the bottom of the fourth when he launched a solo home run over the left field fence at First Energy Stadium.

The Mustangs would make it interesting in the top of the fifth though when Dylan Louviaux hit a two-run single and Ajay Sczepkowski converted a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3.

Ephrata would put things out of reach in the bottom of the sixth when Frees struck again with an RBI single that scored Auker while Nate Fassnacht added a sac fly and Chase Weik hit an RBI.

Thursday’s win not only clichéd Ephrata first ditrict title in baseball but it secured them a closer opening round game in the PIAA Class AAA Tournament next week where they’ll face fifth place team in District 1.
