BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Palmyra pitches 14-0 perfect game against Harrisburg


Braden Vernet started and Tyler Julian finished a perfect game for Palmyra on Wednesday afternoon, as the Cougars beat Harrisburg, 14-0. Vernet struck out seven and Julian two in a five-inning, mercy-rule shortened contests. Palmyra posted 12 hits, including a double from Bobby Dorta. The Cougars are on a five-game win streak and have won seven of their last eight. They improved to 9-7 on the season and 6-7 in Mid-Penn play.

DONEGAL 2, ELCO 1 (10 INNINGS)>> In a critical Section Three matchup, Raiders starter Cole Blatt went nine innings before Elco fell in a walk-off loss in Mount Joy. Aaron Deitz was saddled with the loss and worked one third of an inning in relief. Donegal recorded eight hits to the Raiders' three, as starter Sam Lazowski struck out six over nine innings.

ANNVILLE-CLEONA 10, COLUMBIA 3>> Brothers Colton, Hunter and Mitch Long all hit home runs for the Little Dutchmen in a blowout road win over the Crimson Tide. Colton and Mitch both clubbed two-run long balls, while Mitch slugged a solo shot. Annville-Cleona collected 12 hits and committed two errors behind hurlers Alec Barr and Mitch Long. Columbia was limited to four hits on the afternoon.

LEBANON 5, COCALICO 4>> The Cedars walked off in a complete-game victory for Daniel Caricabeur and matched their highest win total for a season in seven years. Cody Kissinger and Austyn Yerger both hit doubles, two of 11 Lebanon hits on the day, while the Eagles committed three errors in the field.

MCCASKEY 6, CEDAR CREST 5>> The Falcons cut a two-run deficit down to one in the top of the seventh, but couldn't complete their comeback in Lancaster. John Bailey took the loss on the hill despite a 10-hit day at the plate from Cedar Crest.
