BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Bobby Dorta, Palmyra blank Hershey, 6-0


Clearly, Bobby Dorta was dealing on Friday.

Dorta fired a complete game one-hit shutout to propel the Palmyra baseball team to a 6-0 victory over neighboring rival Hershey on Friday at Palmyra Area High School.

Dorta struck out eight and walked only two while going the distance and added a double at the plate as Palmyra improved to 6-7 overall and 4-7 in the Mid-Penn Keystone Division.

The Cougars outhit Hershey 9-1 and overcame four errors to register the win.

ANNVILLE-CLEONA 6, LANCASTER MENNONITE 5 >> In Annville, A-C kept is grip on second place in Section Four with a narrow win over the Blazers.

Now 8-5 and 7-5 in Section Four, the Little Dutchmen scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to overcome a 5-4 deficit and pull ahead to stay.

Alec Barr picked up the win in relief for A-C.

HEMPFIELD 9, CEDAR CREST 0 >> In Landisville, the Falcons' long season continued in a lopsided loss to the first-place Black Knights.

En route to falling to 2-10 overall and 1-11 in Section One Cedar Crest managed just one hit against Hempfield's Kyle Arganbright, who struck out 13.

MANHEIM CENTRAL 12, ELCO 2 (5 INNINGS) >> In Manheim, the Raiders fell in a 6-0 hole after two innings and never recovered.

Elco managed just five hits in the loss, including a double from Nate Hostetter, and dropped to 8-4 overall and 7-4 in Section Three.
