BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Lebanon surpasses win total from 2014


By way of a 2-0 shutout at Lancaster Mennonite, the Lebanon baseball team surpassed its win total of two from a year ago and improved to 3-7 on the season. Sophomore Cody Kissinger threw a complete game four-hitter, and the Cedars brought home runs in the third and sixth innings. Neither team recorded an extra-base hit, though Lebanon knocked out seven singles. Austin Martinez took the loss for the Blazers.

EPHRATA 5, CEDAR CREST 0>> The Falcons fell to 1-7 on the year with a night-time loss at Ephrata. The Mounts scored in each of the first three innings, while Austin Lowery cruised in a complete-game performance that totaled eight strikeouts and zero walks. Nick Gonzalez, Chase Ocker and Austin Douple all collected two hits for Cedar Crest.

ELCO 10, COLUMBIA 0>> Five innings was all it took for the Raiders to knock off the Crimson Tide on their own field. Ben Herb fired a complete-game one-hitter, fanning five batters and walking just as many. Elco yielded 10 hits, all singles, before it hosts Annville-Cleona in a cross-county matchup Friday.

NORTHERN LEBANON 6, PEQUEA VALLEY 0>> After trudging through a four-game losing streak, the Vikings won the third game out of their last four, shutting out the Braves. Wyatt Beakler dominated from the hill, surrendering one hit over seven innings. The senior southpaw also recorded 13 strikeouts.

MANHEIM CENTRAL 13, LEBANON CATHOLIC 0>> Barons pitcher Mitchell Shenk kept the Beavers at bay Wednesday, while the bats behind him rallied for five runs in the second and fifth innings. Lebanon Catholic tallied three hits against Shenk, who picked up nine strikeouts to one walk. Patrick Finely and Nathan Hatzfield toed the rubber for the Beavers.
