Game of the Day

Palmyra girls volleyball 3, Mechanicsburg 1

The Cougars remained perfect in the Mid-Penn Keystone Division on Thursday night, improving to 5-0 with a 3-1 home victory vs. Mechanicsburg.

Melanie Sheaffer led the way  with 15 kills as Palmyra came out on top by scores of  18-25, 25-14, 25-18 and 25-9.

Kirstin West added 35 assists and 8 digs for the Cougars, now 6-2 overall.

Player of the Day

As noted above, Sheaffer had a huge game while leading the Cougars to a key come-from behind win over Keystone Division rival Mechanicsburg.

Sheaffer's superb all-around play included 15 kills, as well as 7 digs, 4 blocks and 2 aces.

Boys Soccer

Ephrata 5, Cedar Crest 0

Under the lights in Ephrata, the Falcons were routed by the hosts, who enjoyed a commanding 19-4 advantage in shots.

New Covenant 5, Christian School of York 1

In York, the Flames jumped to a 4-0 halftime lead and cruised home from there.

Nathan Dubble, Nick Klohr, Eli Zeisloft, Johnny Klohr and Toby Kornhaus each scored for New Covenant.

Donegal 5, Lebanon Catholic 1

In Mount Joy, the Beavers dropped this Section Three encounter after the Indians jumped to a 3-0 halftime lead and held on for the win.

Girls Soccer

Palmyra 4, Hershey 1

At In The Net, the Cougars rode a pair of goals from Nikki Bowman to a comfortable victory over their backyard rival.

Mara Bowman and Eden Haldeman also scored for Palmyra, which improved to 4-2-2 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-Penn Keystone Division.

Pequea Valley 3, Northern Lebanon 1

In Kinzers, the Vikings were locked in a 1-1 halftime tie but surrendered two second half goals en route to the Section Three defeat.

Sierra Geibe scored for Northern Lebanon in the 29th minute off an assist from Jenna Wentling.

West Shore Christian 3, New Covenant 1

The Flames enjoyed a 16-13 edge in shots, but managed only Rebekah Hennigh's first half score in the loss to West Shore.

Field Hockey

Palmyra 3, Owen J. Roberts 0

In Pottstown, the Cougars took a break from District 3 competition and came away with a shutout win over the District One reps.

Hannah Marx, Jess Dembrowski and Katelyn Mark each scored for the Cougars (8-1) and Cheyenne Sprecher turned away two shots in goal to earn the shutout.

Penn Manor 9, Cedar Crest 0

At Earl Boltz Stadium, the mighty Comets rolled over the host Falcons with ease.

Girls Tennis 

Lancaster Country Day 7, Elco 0

In Lancaster, the Raiders were blanked in this non-league matchup. The closest Elco came to a victory was at No.2 doubles, where Liz and Steph Palashnyuk dropped an 8-5 decision.

Girls Volleyball 

Hempfield 3, Cedar Crest 0

Grace Miller had 7 kills, and Brooklyn Varner had 13 assists but the Falcons were still swept by the Black Knights in this Section One encounter.

Manheim Central 3, Elco 0

In Myerstown, the Raiders endured a shutout loss despite eight kills and 11 digs from Carli Sholl.

Northern Lebanon 3, New Covenant 1

In a non-league matchup in Ebenezer, the Vikings overcame a 25-15 first set loss to notch the victory.

Madison Hetrick led Northern Lebanon to the win, registering 12 kills, 5 digs and 4 aces. Zoe Zerman added 8 kills and 6 aces.

Grace Simniskis had 9 kills, 2  Digs 2 aces and 5 blocks in a losing cause for New Covenant.

Golf 

Section One match

Nolan Hoover led Cedar Crest with an 80 as the Falcons finished sixth in the Section One match at Fairview won by Manheim Township.
