Lebanon County HS Highlights- Sept.19
Players of the Day
Katie Fields, Elco field hockey and Michaela Singer, Annville-Cleona field hockey
The Elco and Annville-Cleona field hockey team did a lot of scoring on Monday. It may or may not have been a coincidence that Katie Fields and Michaela Singer were right in the middle of all the fun.
Fields recorded a hat trick - before halftime - as Elco routed Lebanon 8-0 on Monday. Fields' fourth, fifth and sixth goals of the season helped Elco storm to a 6-0 halftime lead that was more than enough production to assure its fourth victory of the still young season.
Meanwhile, Singer notched a hat trick of her own, scoring Annville-Cleona's first three goals in a 5-1 drubbing of Lancaster Mennonite.
Game of the Day
Elco field hockey 8, Lebanon 0
The surprise story of the Lebanon County fall sports season so far? It might just be the Elco field hockey team.
Winners of just five games a season ago, the Raiders moved to within one win of matching last season's victory total already by blasting Lebanon 8-0 in Myerstown on Monday afternoon.
Now 4-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in Section Three, Elco settled the outcome early, jumping to a 6-0 halftime lead on the strength of Fields' hat trick and cruising home from there.
Emily Witmer and Abbie Keath each added a pair of goals and Alicia Yoh also scored for Lisa Kercher's club, which out shot Lebanon 21-0.
