Player of the day

Ariel Jones, Cedar Crest girls soccer

Jones netted two goals in a key 4-2 win at Penn Manor, including the eventual game-winner inside the 70th minute. She also scored in the 19th minute to provide an early 1-0 lead. The speedy senior now boasts four goals and one assist this season.

The victory snapped a two-game losing skid for Cedar Crest, which travels to Manheim Twp. on Wednesday.

Game of the day

Cedar Crest girls volleyball 3, Cocalico 2

Down 2-1 through three sets, the Falcons battled back for a 25-20 win in the fourth and 15-12 triumph in the fifth. Grace Miller notched 16 kills on the night to go with 30 digs. Brooklyn Varner piled up 37 assists and Amy Johns fired a team-best four aces.

The Falcons moved to 2-1, tying for the most wins currently among Section One teams in the young season.

Boys Soccer

Conrad Weiser 3, Northern Lebanon 0

The Vikings put three balls on net and surrendered goals to three different players. They travel to Lebanon Catholic on Tuesday.

Penn Manor 3, Lebanon 0

The Cedars trailed only by a goal at half, but couldn't keep the Comets from building on their lead. Goalie Gabe Santiago recorded nine saves in defeat.

Harrisburg Christian 7, New Covenant 0

The Flames dropped to 1-5 on the season, allowing at least three scores in each half. Jevon Martin made five saves.

Girls Soccer

Cedar Crest 4, Penn Manor 2

The Falcons received two goals from Jones and one from Carli Wasson around an own goal by the Comets. They were outshot by five, but held on thanks to an equal number of saves by Desiree Leffler.

Field Hockey

Warwick 5, Cedar Crest 4

Five first-half goals spoiled the Falcons' hosting of Warwick, which had five different goal scorers. Hannah Lewis, Emily Hornbach and Emily Peters found the back of the net for Cedar Crest.

Middletown 4, Lebanon 0

Maddie Gates made eight saves for the Cedars, who fell to 0-4.

Girls Tennis

Cedar Crest 7, McCaskey 0

Abbey Castor, Keeley Hartman and Tatyana Golub led the Falcons to a clean sweep, notching wins in both singles and doubles. Cedar Crest dropped a total of six games in its singles matches.

Cocalico 4, Elco 3

Kelsey Stubblebine pulled out the lone Raiders' singles victory of the day and teamed with Jennifer Kinsey for an 8-3 doubles win.

Lancaster Catholic 7, Annville-Cleona 0

The Crusaders stayed undefeated with their fourth sweep of the season. Angel Wolfe and Jordan Bowman both battled to close losses in singles matches after each dropping their first set 6-4.

Palmyra 5, Chambersburg 0

The Cougars moved to 4-0 on the season with the road triumph. They return home to host Hershey on Wednesday.

Warwick 7, Lebanon 0

A tough day at home for the Cedars resulted in zero matches with more than one game won. Laura Gilbert and Kelly Cooper both lost a singles match 6-1 and then stood on the wrong end of an 8-1 doubles defeat.

Girls Volleyball

Elco 3, Conrad Weiser 1

Playing away from their home gym had no effect on the Raiders, who overcame a close 26-24 loss in their opening set to sweep the Scouts from there. They punctuated the day with a 25-18 set win. Madelyn Stone had eight aces and 27 assists.

Mt. Calvary 3, Lebanon 0

The search for a win continues for the Cedars, who suffered their third straight shutout. They host Northern Lebanon on Tuesday.
