WRESTLING: Friday, Waynesboro 2nd at New Oxford

NEW OXFORD - Waynesboro had a good day Friday, advancing five wrestlers into the semifinals of the New Oxford Tournament.

The Indians are in second place in the team standings of the 32-team event, with 106 points to 107.5 for Tunkhannock.

The first four weights each have a Waynesboro wrestler in the semifinals - Matt McCann at 106, Laken Rouzer at 113, Elliott Swink at 120 and Ryan Neff at 126.

McCann met Greencastle-Antrim's Bryan Eckenrode in the quarterfinals and notched a pin in 5:30 to advance. Swink was able to defeat the top seed at 120 in his quarterfinal matchup.

At 195, Seth Egolf also reached the semifinals by knocking off the top seed in the quarterfinals. Egolf pulled off a big win in the second round when he pinned James Buchanan's Seth Carbaugh. Just last week, Carbaugh had handed Egolf a 9-1 major decision.

Neither JB nor Greencastle produced a semifinalist.
