WRESTLING: Shippensburg earns 1 CV title

NEW KINGSTOWN -- Shippensburg competed in the Cumberland Valley Tournament on Friday and Saturday and the Greyhound wrestlers earned one individual championship and three other placewinners.

Junior 220-pounder Cameron Tinner was given the No. 1 seed in the event and he responded by dominating the weight class.

Tinner received a bye in the first round, then scored a technical fall (16-1) over Owen Blaschak of Northern York. In the semifinals, Tinner blasted David Ainsbrough of Canon-McMillan 13-2, then ended the final quickly with a pin in just 1:03 over Mechanicsburg's AKira Bastiany.

At 132 pounds, the Hounds' Chandler Olson was seeded No. 2 behind Zack Trampe, a state runner-up from Council Rock South last year. Olson, who placed sixth at states, reached the final via a 15-0 technical fall over Red land's Ethan Misal, a 12-3 major over Evan Widing of Pennridge and a 4-2 verdict over CV's Wyatt Long.

But in the final, Trampe had his way on his feet and took a 19-8 major decision. Olson scored his only takedown in the first period to tie the bout 4-4, but Trampe escaped and took Olson down for a 7-4 lead. In the second, two more takedowns and a three-point nearfall gave him a big lead.

Shippensburg's other two placewinners were Nick Kubala, who took fourth at 285 pounds, and Cole Forrester, fifth at 195.
