Kelton Chastulik breaks school record in shot put


Several local athletes took part in the Mountain Express Holiday Invitational indoor track & field meet Thursday night at Hagerstown Community College.

Chambersburg senior Kelton Chastulik had a big day in winning the boys shot put title. He won with a heave of 56-0, which produced a school indoor record. It broke the previous mark of C.J. Johnson, which was 55-4.25 in 2011.

Teammate Myles Braxton placed fourth with a throw of 51-7. In the girls shot put, Trojan Reagan WInebrenner took sixth with an effort of 34-2.25.

Greencastle-Antrim freshman Taryn Parks collected the area's other gold medal, winning the 1600 race in 5:29.09.

Also for Chambersburg, Trayton Barnette was fourth in the boys 55 hurdles (8.56); in the girls 55 hurdles, Caroline Hance (5th, 9.85) and Sydnie Gilbert (7th, 9.89) placed; and Gilbert was seventh in the 300 dash (46.76).

For the Blue Devils in the boys shot put, Campbell Parker placed second (51-9.25) and teammate Jacob Hockman was eighth (38-9).
