SWIMMING: Chambersburg sweeps CD East

CHAMBERSBURG - Both of Chambersburg's swimming teams seriously outmatched Central Dauphin East, and it led to a pair of dominating Mid Penn Commonwealth Division victories Thursday.

The boys won, 125-27, and the girls defeated the Panthers, 115-31.

Chambersburg's boys (4-5, 2-4 MPC) took first in every single event, and the girls (2-7, 1-5 MPC) picked up their first division victory by winning all but one event.

Both the boys and the girls had a trio of competitors who won two individual events. Avery Barley was first in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, and Julian Chance won both sprint freestyle events. Andrew Leeper was the victor in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke.

On the girls side, Ashlyn Ellis was first in the 200 and 500 freestyles, while Erika Rundquist captured the 100 fly and 100 backstroke races. Abbie Reichelderfer was fastest in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke.

Chambersburg also completed a slew of sweeps. The Trojans took the top three spots in the boys and girls 200 IM, the boys 100 fly, the boys and girls 500 free, and the girls 100 back.
