SWIMMING: Monday's roundup

Shippensburg splits with Spring Grove: Shippensburg and Spring Grove split a pair of close non-league swim meets Monday, with the Lady Hounds earning a 90-86 verdict and the Rocket boys pulling out an 86-85 victory.

The key race in the girls' meet was the 100 breaststroke, the second-to-last event, in which Shippensburg's Madelyn Facchinei took first in 1:17.05 and Liana Culbertson’s third-place finish for the Lady Hounds allowed them to essentially lock up the meet.

Teddi Powell paced Ship (2-3) with a win in the 50 free and 100 free and also anchored the 200 free relay to victory.

In the boys meet, entering the 400 free relay, the Rockets needed a first place to take home a victory over the Greyhounds, and they did just that, winning by nearly 17 seconds.

Sam Nonemaker won a pair of events for Ship (1-4), taking the 200 IM and 100 free.
