The Shalom Christian baseball team stormed through the MDCC tournament to claim the conference title with a 6-3 come-from-behind win over Grace on Saturday afternoon.

Grace racked up a 3-1 lead in the second inning and held off Shalom's attempts to even the score - that is, until the top of the seventh.

The Flames brought in five runs in the final inning to lock in the championship.

Chase Martin and Brady Bakner each batted in a pair of runs.

Colby Maun had a stellar day on the mound, racking up 12 strikeouts through 6 2/3 innings. In 109 pitches, 73 were for strikes.

Through the MDCC tournament, the Flames outscored opponents 24-6 in three games.

Flames soccer falls: The Shalom Christian girls soccer team fell to the MDCC tournament's top seed Shenandoah Valley 7-1 in the championship game.

After Shenandoah took a 4-0 lead in the first half, Shalom's Brooke Emge opened the second half with a goal assisted by Bethany Blank.

Emge and Emily Martin were named to the MDCC all-tournament team.

CVC earns third: Cumberland Valley Christian claimed a 2-0 win over Heritage in the MDCC consolation game thanks to a well-rounded offensive effort from the Blazers.

Emily Bard kicked things off for CVC in the 25th minute off a feed from Tori Stouffer, followed by a second-half goal by Isabel Beard, assisted by Taylor Heck in the 53rd minute.

"I'm proud of my team for earning third in MDCC Tournament," CVC coach Paul Lundy said. "It is the best finish for our program in years. Emily (Bard) played another great game. Tori Stouffer was crucial for us in the midfield. Jalen Moats (selected to the all-tournament team) played a strong game in goal."
