For the third time this year, the Chambersburg boys volleyball team fell to Mid Penn Commonwealth foe Cumberland Valley.
But this time, it was do or die for the Trojans in the first round of the District 3 Class 3A tournament.
Chambersburg put up a fight agaisnt the Eagles, falling 25-21 in the second frame, then battling back to claim a 25-19 win in game three, but ultimately fell to CV 3-1.
SHALOM TOPS CVC: The Shalom Christian girls soccer team found redemption for a 1-0 loss to Cumberland Valley Christian earlier this year with a 2-1 win over the Blazers during the MDCC semifinals.
Shalom got things going in the first minute thanks to a goal by Cassie Oberholzer off a corner kick by Brook Emge. Maggie Keller netted the game-winner in the 72nd minute.
CVC's lone goal was scored by Taylor Heck in the 24th minute.
The Flames move on to play for the conference title on Saturday against either No. 1 Shenandoah Valley or No. 5 Heritage.
- Dylan Gordon and Branden Lynch teamed up to bring in nine of Southern Fulton's 11 runs in a dominant win over Chestnut Ridge. Gordon was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, while Lynch batted in five runs off three hits, including a three-run home run in the second inning.
- Greencastle's Nathan Starliper threw a three-hitter through five innings all the while striking out seven batters in a decisive 11-0 win over Mechanicsburg on Wednesday. Starliper also went 3-for-3 and had six RBIs to lead the Blue Devils.
