F-F Highlights: JB softball storms past Biglerville


James Buchanan racked up the runs in a non-league game against Biglerville, taking down the Canners 16-1 in five innings.

Lizzie Pittman struck out five batters through four innings in the win, while Jenna Mongold dazzled at the plate, going 2-for-4, including a home run, and batted in three RBIs for James Buchanan (4-3). Maddie Bailey, Carly Caron and Alyssa Blair had two RBIs each.

CLOSE ONE: Despite racking up 10 hits in a non-league game against Central York, the Chambersburg softball team fell 4-3 for its third straight loss after winning the first six of the season.

Chambersburg (6-3) took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth, but the Panthers came back to score three runs in the bottom of the inning. Leah Hunt struck out five batters in her six-inning performance, and walked four in the loss.

Baseball

  • Jared Pine was 2-for-3, drove in 3 runs and pitched the final 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts for a save to help James Buchanan edge Biglerville 5-4.
  • Branden Lynch threw 5 innings and allowed only three hits and one run to lead Southern Fulton over Forbes Road, 5-1. Brycen Hohman was 2-for-3 for the Cardinals.

Softball

  • Forbes Road earned a dominant 12-3 SHL/ICC win over Southern Fulton with pitcher Courtney Schoen at the helm. Schoen struck out 7 batters and allowed just one earned run. She also batted in 3 runs on a bases-clearing single. Mara Broadwater and Maddie Miller also had 3 RBIs for the Cardinals. For the Indians, Erica Hoffman was 4-for-4.
  • In an 8-6 loss to Cedar Cliff, Greencastle-Antrim's Alicen Hoover was 3-for-4.
  • Brooke Harris locked in her 8th win in the circle for Fannett-Metal as the Tigers claimed their 5th straight victory in a 17-5 triumph over Northern Bedford. Harris struck out 8 batters, while Jamie Adams led the Tigers at the plate to bring in 3 RBIs. Claudia Umbrell and Kassie Holtry each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

Girls soccer

  • Shalom Christian's Brooke Emge had a career day on the pitch, netting 6 goals for the Flames in a 10-0 win over Carroll Christian. Sadie Bland registered a hat trick for Shalom.
