F-F Highlights: Shalom Christian's Brad Eby wins 100th game

Shalom Christian completed a basketball season sweep against Cumberland Valley Christian on Friday night, taking a 40-22 victory in the girls game, and a 69-34 win in the boys contest.

The girls game was especially important to Flames coach Brad Eby because it was his 100th victory at the school. In six years, his record is an impressive 100-31 (.763).

Shalom’s Brooke Emge equaled the offensive output of the Blazers by scoring 22 points, and added nine steals.

For CV Christian, Tori Stouffer tallied 12 points, but leading scorer Kyleigh Teal was held to just two.

In the boys game, the Flames jumped ahead 22-7 after one quarter. Jonah Stains led with 17 points, Micah Lehman had 11 and Cameron Roseman 10. For the Blazers, Jesus Pena led with eight points.

Opposite directions

Forbes Road defeated Fannett-Metal 64-49 in a Sideling Hill/Inter-County Conference battle to win for the fifth time in its last six games. The Cardinals got 19 points from Aaron Schepis, 17 from Brycen Hohman (and 10 rebounds) and a career-high 15 from Michael Fleck.

For the Tigers, who have dropped four of their last five, Lucas Wingert had 14 points and Austin Raymer had 11, while Forbes Road held Mikell McGee to only nine points.

Boys basketball

  • Cole Christian scored 13 points and Cade Whitfield 10 for the Trojans, who were outscored by seven points at the foul line by the Cougars.

  • Shippensburg, which had 12 players score led by Carter Van Scyoc with 16 points, outscored James Buchanan 31-7 in the third period. The Rockets got 17 points from Jared Pine.

Girls basketball

  • Liz Logan snapped out for a career-high 26 points for Shippensburg in its win over James Buchanan. Rachel Martin led the Rockets with 16 points.
