Last week Franklin and Fulton counties saw a pair of upsets. What is on the horizon for this week around F-F? Keep an eye on these top five events to find out.

TUESDAY

Chambersburg boys basketball at State College, 7:30 p.m.: Last week the Trojans upset Carlisle, a top Mid Penn Commonwealth team, and looks to topple another MPC leader on Tuesday.

The Trojans travel to State College to take on the top-ranked team in the Commonwealth with a chip on their shoulders. The last time out the Little Lions beat Chambersburg by one point thanks to a 3-pointer sank in the final 15 seconds of the game.

Chambersburg's six losses of the season have all come from Commonwealth teams, but it still holds strong in the final playoff spot in District 3 Class 6A. Cade Whitfield was the catalyst in the Trojans' upset over Carlisle, with a game-high 13 points.

Everett boys basketball at Southern Fulton, 7:30 p.m.: Despite being upset by McConnellsburg in a rivalry game last week, Southern Fulton is still forging along as one of the District 5 Class 1A favorites, and takes on a tough 3A opponent on Tuesday.

Last time out the Indians fell in a double-overtime battle with the Warriors, ultimately losing 63-60.

After a defensively skewed game against McConnellsburg, it's likely that Southern Fulton, which averages nearly 60 points per game, will want to get back on the scoring front - led by leading scorer Dylan Gordon, who averages just over 21 points per game. Also keep an eye on Chase Varner and Carl Potter, who are also teetering on a double-figure average.

FRIDAY

Shippensburg vs. Waynesboro, 7:30 p.m.: Shippenburg girls travel to Wayensboro, while the Greyhounds host the Indians in a boys Franklin County rivalry rematch. Last time out Waynesboro swept Shippensburg in both boys and girls. While the Maidens look to have a similar challenge as the last time out against the Lady Hounds, the Waynesboro boys team may have a different Shippensburg to deal with Friday.

After back-to-back Mid Penn Colonial division losses to Waynesboro and Greencastle-Antrim, the Greyhounds must close out their conference slate on a good note, and continue to improve their district ranking. Since Waynesboro's 60-56 win over Shippensburg earlier this season, Ship has moved up in the District 3 Class 4A rankings, sitting in the final playoff spot with seven games remaining in the regular season.

SATURDAY

Waynesboro at Chambersburg wrestling, 7 p.m.: Waynesboro travels to Chambersburg for a non-league dual on Saturday.

The Indians are fresh off an appearance at the New Oxford Tournament, where Seth Egolf had a fine showing at 195 where he placed second, making his way through the championship bracket in three quick pins.

Meanwhile, Chambersburg had a strong showing against State College thanks to success in the middle weights. The Trojans' narrow 35-30 victory over the Little Lions moved them up two spots in the District 3 rankings.

McConnellsburg girls basketball at Shalom Christian, 4:15 p.m.: McConnellsburg travels to Shalom for a non-league matchup with the sting from a five-point loss to Southern Fulton fresh on its mind.

The Indians broke a five-game winning streak for the Lady Spartans - one McConnellsburg would like to get back. The Flames, on the other hand, have won two close games in a row.

Shalom's Brooke Emge has returned as a top offensive threat for the Flames, averaging more than 14 points per game, while McConnellsburg's Bronwyne Mellott remains the area's leading scorer, averaging more than 27 points per game.
