F-F Highlights: Chambersburg boys upset Carlisle

Chambersburg’s defense has been strong all season.

But it may have produced its best result Friday night at CASHS Field House.

The Trojans held a high-scoring Carlisle team well below its season average and pulled out a 44-41 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division boys basketball victory, their best win of the season.

Chambersburg’s win boosted its record to 10-6 (3-6 MPC) and bumped it up to No. 9 in the District 3 power rankings.

The Trojans, who sank only 6 of 15 at the free throw line, led 15-12 after one quarter and 23-19 at halftime, but the Thundering Herd (11-4) tied it entering the fourth period. Chambersburg then held Carlisle to just four points in the final quarter to prevail.

Cade Whitfield led the Trojans by scoring 13 points, which was the top total for the game. Cole Christian also scored nine points.

For Carlisle, still No. 4 in the power rankings, Gavyn Barnes and DeShawn Milligan each scored 10 points.
