Over the course of the last three games, McConnellsburg's girls basketball team has hit its stride, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

The Lady Spartans are averaging nearly 75 points per game in their last three games, including a 77-49 win over Fannett-Metal on Thursday evening.

"The first three or four games of the season, I knew it was just a matter of time before we had enough court time together," McConnellsburg coach Brent Seville said. "Just like last year, as soon as we went into the Claysburg-Kimmel tournament, we really started gelling as a team."

One of McConnellsburg's reasons for success is its well-rounded offensive output. Against F-M, the Spartans put four in double figures. Bronwyne Mellott led with 26 points, while McKenzie Gelvin was right behind with 22. Justice Seville and Kellyn Perry each added double-digit performances, splitting 22 points evenly.

Fannett-Metal's Ally Hoffman continued her hot streak with a 17-point game. She has scored in double figures in all but one game this season. Katie Johns and Emily Metcalfe each added 11.

"I give a lot of credit to Fannett-Metal because they're a better team than what their record shows," Brent Seville said. "We just had a tremendous night offensively. We really sparked there in the first half, and that's what we need to do. We're not a very good team when we're coming from behind."

Pin city

Chambersburg's wrestling squad racked up six pins in its 54-23 win over Harrisburg for its first Mid Penn Commonwealth Division win of the season.

The fastest pin for the Trojans came from Aaron Rump, who took down Donte Kent at 138 pounds in a mere 1:50.

Other Chambersburg victors by pin included Spencer Runshaw (126), Drake Brenize (152), Luke Nichter (160), Drew Peck (182) and Guy Lozius (195).
