Reading Tournament

Reading 7, Shippensburg 1: The Greyhounds fell to the host team Reading in the first round of the Reading tournament. The Red Knights bombarded the Shippensburg defense, and outshot the Hounds 32-4.

Jacob Cox eliminated the shutout with seven minutes left in regulation, assisted by Kyle Negley.

Shippensburg 2, Lebanon 1: Shippensburg claimed a consolation victory over Lebanon. After the Cedars took the lead midway through the first half, the Hounds' Eli Hubbard scored the equalizer just a minute later, assisted by Austin Taylor.

Jacob Cox scored the game-winner just two minutes before the end of regulation. Chandler Olson earned the assist. Shippensburg (1-1) outshot Lebanon 22-6.

Central York Tournament

Central York 3, Waynesboro 2: In the opening game, the Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the first half, but Waynesboro's Derek Buhrman scored back-to-back goals in the second to tie the game, both assisted by Cruz Rea. But Central's Zach Mummert scored with 10 minutes left in regulation for the win.

Waynesboro 4, East Pennsboro 1: Waynesboro claimed third place with a 4-1 win over East Pennsboro in the consolation game. Derek Buhrman, Cruz Rea, Aaron Tylicki and Wyatt Feldman produced the goals for the Indians (1-1).

Mechanicsburg Tournament

Mechanicsburg 9, Shippensburg 1: Mechanicsburg shut out Shippensburg in the first 50 minutes of play in the opening game of the Mechanicsburg Tournament, all the while racking up an eight-goal lead. Ship's Alexis Reese broke the shutout at 51:06, assisted by Kara Newell. Mara Goodhart had 16 saves for Shippensburg (0-1).

"It was a tough game but one we can grow on and keep working to fix," Shippensburg coach Mary Miller said.

South Western 3, Shippensburg 1: The Lady Hounds placed fourth in the Mechanicsburg Tournament after falling 3-1 in the consolation game to South Western. Bailee Rowles scored early in the second half, assisted by Amber Orndorff. Ally Ocker had 15 saves for Shippensburg (0-2).

"We were physical and we started putting more things together," Miller said. "We will keep fine tuning things and pushing and challenging our aggressiveness and team work."

Field hockey

South Western 2, Waynesboro 1: The Maidens forced overtime in a non-league match against South Western, but the Mustangs came out on top for a 2-1 victory. Kiersten Beard got 'Boro on the board 8:54 into the first half, but South Western's Marrie Starlling tied it up late in the second half. The Mustangs scored on a penalty corner in overtime.

"We played stronger and had opportunities to score, but came up short," Waynesboro coach Kelly Rock said. "In overtime we had the ball in front of the cage but we were unable to score."

Abi Fuller had six saves for the Maidens (0-2).
