F-F H.S. Highlights: Grayson Hall fires 2-hitter
Freshman Grayson Hall had a fine outing for Forbes Road’s baseball team on Monday afternoon, and it paid off in a 4-1 victory over non-league foe Hyndman.
“Hall pitched an excellent game for us,” Cardinal coach Randy Gelvin said. “Grayson had good control and mixed his pitches very well for a freshman. Hitting for us was a little better than it has been of late, and the defense was also a bit better.”
The Hornets managed just two hits off Hall, who did not allow an earned run. He walked just two and struck out four.
Finishing with seven total hits, Bryce Hohman and Logan Grubb both went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Cardinals (11-7).

Northern York 12, Shippensburg 2: The Polar Bears banged out 13 hits and scored in each of the five innings of a non-league win over Shippensburg that likely knocked the Greyhounds out of consideration for the District 3 playoffs. Scott Leitholf fashioned a two-hitter for Northern and Curtis Robison was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Ship finished 8-9 after three straight defeats to close the season. Zane Hershey and Adam Maring had the Hounds’ only hits.
Mercersburg Academy 1-9, Lawrenceville 0-2: The Blue Storm earned the Mid-Atlantic Prep League championship for the sixth consecutive season by sweeping the Big Red on Sunday. Mercersburg is now 21-4 (9-1 MAPL).
Miles Hearon fired a four-hitter in the first game, with one walk and three strikeouts. A two-out RBI single by St. John Smith in the bottom of the seventh provided all the offense needed. In Game 2, Tommy Voce got the win with six innings of four-hit ball. Will Oakley was 2-for-3 and scored three times, Eli Riley was 2-for-4 with a double, Carlos Mancilla hit a double for two RBIs and Jayvien Sandridge knocked in a pair of runs.

West Perry 1, James Buchanan 0: Jenna Mongold racked up 10 strikeouts in a non-league game against unbeaten West Perry, but she didn't get enough run support from James Buchanan. The Rockets managed only four hits, including a double from Mongold.
McConnellsburg 9, Chestnut Ridge 7: For the first time since the opening two weeks of the season, McConnellsburg is on a winning streak. The Spartans (6-13, 4-11 SHL) earned an SHL win over Chestnut Ridge for their second straight victory. Madison Koontz and Carlie Lynch each had two hits for McConnellsburg, which scored eight of its runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
“Carlie Lynch came through in a big bind,” McConnellsburg coach Junior Swope said. “She’s a freshman, and this was one of her breakout games. Everyone contributed in that sixth inning, and that’s how us coaches like to see them play all the time.”
Hyndman 14, Forbes Road 5: Forbes Road simply couldn’t match the offensive firepower of Hyndman, which racked up 20 hits in the non-league game. The Cardinals (5-14) got two hits apiece from Malea Truax, Tina Parsons, Olivia Hall and Courtney Schoen. Parsons drove in a pair of runs.
Girls soccer
MDCC playoff, Heritage Academy 2, Cumb. Valley Christian 0: Heritage and Cumberland Valley Christian each had 11 shots, but Heritage scored more where it counted in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference quarterfinal.
The Blazers (4-8-1) got nine saves from Maddie Keck. Both Heritage goals were scored by Mikayla Hoy in the first half.
