Franklin-Fulton: 5 games to watch this week

Monday, Fannett-Metal at McConnellsburg, baseball, 6: Despite Fannett-Metal and McConnellsburg's season record boasting just two wins each, the team's should make for an interesting Sideling Hill League/ Inter-County Conference game as both are teetering on a turning point this season.

The Tigers are led by Cole Funk, who has proven his worth on the mound and at the plate, while the Spartans (2-6, 2-5 SHL/2-4 ICC) have made a run in their last three outings, dropping their most recent games by one run. Fannett-Metal (2-6, 1-6 SHL, 1-4 ICC) may have an edge however, as its two wins of the season came just last week, while McConnellsburg has not won since

Tuesday, Red Land at Chambersburg, softball, 4:15: Chambersburg softball remains to find an opponent to threaten its undefeated start to the season thanks to strong pitching and a productive offense leading the way. The Lady Trojans welcome Red Land Tuesday in a Mid Penn Commonwealth Division match, with hopes to remain perfect.

If Chambersburg (7-0, 6-0 MPC) pulls off a win over Red Land (3-4, 2-4 MPC), the team sweeps the division in the first round of season matchups with a defeat of each Commonwealth team.

Tuesday, Cumberland Valley at Chambersburg, boys volleyball, 6: Despite struggling tournament play this season, the Chambersburg boys volleyball team has posted a four-game winning streak over Mid Penn Commonwealth Division opponents in stunning fashion, dropping just one set since the team's first sweeping defeat of the season.

Now on to its final divisional opponent, the Trojans (4-1, 4-0 MPC) welcome Cumberland Valley with hopes of also completing the first-round sweep of the division. Chambersburg is the only Commonwealth team with an untarnished division record, and has the chance to make its way though the first round of divisional play unscathed with a win over  the Eagles (2-2, 2-2 MPC).
