DODGEBALL

SF senior to host benefit tourney

Southern Fulton senior Owen Hawkins will be hosting a dodgeball tournament to benefit the family of Danny Crouse.

Crouse was the PA Turnpike employee who was shot and killed in a robbery on March 20.

The tournament will be held Saturday, April 23 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Southern Fulton Junior/Senior High School. Entry fee is $30 per team with six players per team. Spectators are welcome, and donations will be accepted at the door. If you plan to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to Denise Crouse. T-shirts will be available for purchase.

Mercersburg lands academic honors

A number of Mercersburg Academy student-athletes were honored with selections to the Academic All-Mid Atlantic Prep League team.

Criteria for selection is academic and athletic excellence in a season. Candidates must be varsity letter winners who earn the equivalent of "Honors" at their respective schools.

Selections for Mercersburg were Elliot Hicks (boys basketball), Joana Santos (girls basketball), Saaman Ghodsi (boys squash), Kelsey Shields (girls squash), Alistair Matsuda (boys swimming), Tyler Russell (boys swimming), Lindsay Tanner (girls swimming), Lexa Treml (girls diving), Jude Ikekhua (boys indoor track & field), Alex Nanos (boys indoor track & field), Sydney Hirokawa (girls indoor track & field), Finley Stewart (girls indoor track & field), Fernando Cervera (wrestling) and Brian Nelson (wrestling).
