H.S. SPORTS: Weekly honor roll


JAKE BOEHME, McConnellsburg boys soccer: Boehme had a goal and an assist in McConnellsburg's 5-1 victory over Windber in the District 5 Class-A quarterfinals, and earned the lone goal for the Spartans in their 3-1 loss to Berlin in the district semifinals Tuesday.

LEVI BRADY, Fannett-Metal boys soccer: Brady had a goal and an assist in a District 5 Class A quarterfinal victory over Hyndman to help advance the team to the district semifinals.

KIERSTEN CLINE, Forbes Road field hockey: Cline had a goal in Forbes Road's 3-0 victory over Belleville Mennonite in the District 6 championship game, passing teammate McKenzie Gelvin for second in the area fall leaders list with 74 points.

STEVEN GLODEK, Fannett-Metal boys cross country: Glodek took first in the District 5 Class A tournament with a time of 18:00. Glodek advanced to the PIAA championship this week.

ALEX HAYDEN, Chambersburg boys cross country: Hayden was the only local qualifier for the boys District 3-AAA state championship. He finished 27th Saturday at the district meet and qualified as an individual – the first Trojan to do so since 2011.

BRANDON MILLER, Chambersburg football: Miller had 105 rushing yards on 28 carries last week against Harrisburg, totaling more than 46 percent of the Trojans rush offense in the 38-34 loss. Miller also had a touchdown and a 13-yard reception. Before last week, Miller had just 34 total rushing yards; he now totals 139.

KAYLEE MOWERY, Chambersburg girls cross country: Mowery placed sixth at the District 3-AAA tournament with a 18:55 finishing time, crushing her previous 18th-place finish from last year's district meet. Mowery was a part of the five runners whose times qualified Chambersburg for the PIAA state championship this week.

CHASE VARNER, Southern Fullton cross country: Varner finished third overall in the District 5 Class A Championships with a time of 19:02. Varner's finish, along with three other Southern Fulton finishers in the top-10 earned the Indians the district title.

JAKE WERTZ, Waynesboro football: Wertz ran for 204 yards on 13 carries last week against Greencastle, and he had two rushing touchdowns totaling 101 yards. Wertz has 787 total rushing yards this season.

ABBY YOURKAVITCH, Chambersburg girls cross country: Yourkavitch finished third in the District 3 Class AAA tournament last week with a 18:20 finish, aiding her team in a fourth-place finish at districts to qualify the Lady Trojans for their fifth-straight state championship. Yourkavitch shaved off 57 seconds from last year's district race.

KYRIN ZIMMERMAN, Greencastle-Antrim football: Zimmerman had 33 rushing yards Friday against Waynesboro, but worked best on special teams, where he had multiple returns for 30-plus yards. Zimmerman also had four catches for 25 yards and an interception.
