H.S. SPORTS: Weekly honor roll


ETHAN BARCLAY, McConnellsburg boys soccer: Barclay made a splash in two victories for the Spartans this week. In a shutout of Forbes Road, Barclay finished with two goals and two assists, and he also had a helper in a victory over Cumberland Valley Christian.

GABBY BAUGHMAN, Greencastle-Antrim girls volleyball: Baughman had a fine week for the Blue Devils, racking up 18 digs in a win over West Perry and 12 digs and 12 assists in a narrow loss to Hershey. She also stepped into the setting position and had 40 assists in a loss to Waynesboro. She totaled 12 aces in three matches this week.

MICKEY HEINBAUGH, James Buchanan girls soccer: Heinbaugh helped the Rockets finish the regular season on a high note by netting two goals and assisting on two others in the Rockets' 8-0 defeat of Littlestown.

CADIE KISER, Chambersburg girls cross country: Kiser had what Trojan coach Chris Monheim called "her best race of the season," helping the Trojans to fourth place at the Mid Penn Conference Championships. She finished in 20:01, good enough for 14th place.

DEREK MEASELL, Greencastle-Antrim football: Measell did a bit of everything for the Blue Devils in a win over James Buchanan. He was the team's leading rusher with 51 yards on four carries, and he had a catch for 48 yards. He also had a pick-six.

ALEXIS MELLOTT, McConnellsburg girls soccer: Mellott scored the lone goal of the game to lift the Spartans to a 1-0 defeat of Tussey Mountain. She also poured in five goals and two assists in a big win over Johnstown Christian.

CARA LONG, Chambersburg girls volleyball: Long had a standout match in a five-set defeat at the hands of State College. She racked up 19 kills and seven blocks against the Little Lions and also recorded a team-high nine kills and four blocks in a sweep of Shippensburg.

IAN PATTERSON, Chambersburg golf: Patterson shot a 77 at the PIAA Eastern Regional at Golden Oaks Golf Club. The score gave him a tie for 16th place and a berth in the PIAA Championships.

HUNTER SOWERS, James Buchanan boys soccer: Sowers netted a pair of goals in the Rockets' final game of the season, helping JB to its lone win of the season, a 6-0 defeat of Littlestown.

MADISON SWEITZER, Greencastle-Antrim girls soccer: Sweitzer had a pair of goals to lift the Blue Devils to a 2-1 victory over Bishop McDevitt.

PATRICK SWINEY, Waynesboro football: Swiney had a strong defensive game in a narrow loss to East Pennsboro. Swiney finsihed with 18 tackles, including two solo tackles and four tackles for a loss. He also had a sack for seven yards.

CARLY SWOPE, McConnellsburg girls volleyball: Swope had a pair of strong matches in wins for the Spartans this week. She finished with seven kills, 11 digs and seven aces against Northern Bedford, and was the leader in kills (10), digs (18) and aces (4) in a defeat of Tussey Mountain.

ALYSSA TAYLOR, Waynesboro girls volleyball: Maiden coach Kim Saunders called Taylor the "difference-maker" in a five-set win over Greencastle-Antrim that secured the Mid Penn Capital Division title. She had 31 digs in that match, and added 23 against Big Spring and 18 versus South Western.
