SOFTBALL: Area seniors get one more game in Red & Blue All-Star game

For the second consecutive year, the Mid-Penn Area Suns Carpenter Cup Franchise will give recent high school softball graduates a chance at one more game on the big stage.

It will host the 2nd Annual Red & Blue All-Star game on Tuesday at Guilford Park Stadium in Chambersburg. There will be a doubleheader starting at 5:45, and plenty of local talent will be there to represent the Blue team.

A total of 10 local players will represent the Blue team, with Troy Pittman as the head coach and Mike Peters and Stewart Miller the assistant coaches.

James Buchanan will have a trio of players in Abbie Doyka, Shania Fogelsonger and Jennae Piper, and Sydney Reath will be the lone representative for Mercersburg Academy. Other local participants include Chambersburg's Alexis Shearer and Chelsea Sommerville, Nicole Baker and Lexi Wolfe of Shippensburg and Greencastle-Antrim's Brooke Zeger and Erin Bontrager.

There will be no admission charged for the game, and if there is poor weather, the games will be played on Wednesday.
