SOFTBALL: Saturday's roundup


EVERETT 6-15, SOUTHERN FULTON 3-5 >> Everett, the first-place team in the Sideling Hill/Inter-County Conference, took a doubleheader from Southern Fulton, 6-3 and 15-5 on Saturday.

The Indians (4-5, 3-4 SHL, 3-3 ICC) scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the first game, 3-3. But the Warriors put up three in the top of the seventh to win it. Allison Spade, Lakyn Morton and Olivia Mottern each had two hits for SF.

In the second game, Everett led only 1-0 until it scored four in the fourth and six in the fifth. Lakyn Morton, Kierstyn Morton and Madison Baker all had two hits for the Indians.

HILL 10, MERCERSBURG 7 >> Mercersburg Academy made a run at Hill late, but the Blues had taken a big enough lead early to make it count in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League game.

"We had two runners on base in the seventh, but we got caught in a rundown," Blue Storm coach John David Bennett said. "We had our big hitters coming up, too."

Ava Hall led Mercersburg (5-5, 1-5 MAPL) with a 3-for-4 performance, while Mallory Sipes and Caroline Casparian each had two hits.
