H.S. highlights: Trojan boys lacrosse earns 1st win
The Chamberburg boys lacrosse team earned its first victory of the season with an 11-4 win over Mid Penn Conference opponent Central Dauphin East on Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans came out fast in the first quarter, jumping to a 5-0 lead and coasted the rest of the way, scoring two points in each of the remaining frames.
"It was nice to get a win, but we're a young group that is getting better every day," Chambersburg coach Paul Flohr said. "Our issues are still at the faceoff X (East won that stat, 15-4), and we've been using four or five guys a game there for the most part."
Thomas Elia and Jace Hopple each scored a hat trick for Chambersburg (1-5, 1-3 MPC), while Hopple also had four assists.
Flohr said, "Hopple had a career day and it's a great building block for the games to come. Hunter Leedy had six groundballs and caused three turnovers, and Jake Vorhees caused four turnovers on defense."
Goalie Clayton Schellhase had 12 saves for the Trojans, and they limited CD East to just two goals in the second and fourth quarters.
Chambersburg, which scored on three of six extra-man situations, also got two goals from Riley Ocker, and one each from Mason Fisher, Griffin Leedy and Cedric Adams.
