H.S. GOLF: 74s by Jordan Shaffer, Karsen Rush pace Chambersburg to win

WAYNESBORO >> Chambersburg put five golfers in the first six places to capture another Mid Penn Colonial Division victory on Monday afternoon at Waynesboro Country Club.

The Trojans have now won 158 consecutive matches.

Jordan Shaffer and Karsen Rush each cared a 2-over par 74 to lead the way for Chambersburg. Teammate Luke Ocker was the only other player to break 80, with his 77.

Trojan coach Mark Yost said, "It was a beautiful day to play today, and the course was in a scoreable condition. But the wind was a little bit of a factor. We had a very nice day out of Jordan and Karsen – that was solid to shoot 74."

On his final hole, the 468-yard No. 8, a par 5, Rush hit a big drive with the wind at his back and had only a wedge left. He stuffed it to tap-in range for an eagle to finish his day.

The host team, Waynesboro, finished comfortably in second place. Nick Franki fired an 80 and Olivia Gardenhour carded an 83 to finish in a tie for sixth overall.

For third-place Greencastle, Chad Harbaugh tied for eighth with an 86.
