GOLF: Chambersburg places 4th at CD Invitational

HARRISBURG >> Chambersburg had three players score in the 70s on Saturday at the Central Dauphin Invitational golf tournament, but the Trojans still finished in fourth place, seven strokes behind Peters Township White.

Chambersburg freshman Karsen Rush shot an even-par 72 at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club to place fourth in the individual standings – three players managed to shoot 1-under 71, Timmy Cooper of CD, Robert Falconer of Cumberland Valley and Lukas Clark of Council Rock South.

Also for the Trojans, Jordan Shaffer fired a 76, Ian Patterson carded 77 and Luke Ocker had an 82. Tom Shearer's 83 did not count in the scoring.

"The course was green, and not really playing hard and fast," Chambersburg coach Mark Yost said, "but it was scoreable, and there were some very good players there. We left with the feeling that we could have played better, so that's encouraging for when Mid Penns are played there."

Rush was 2-under par late in the round, but posted bogeys on two of his last four holes. Shaffer sat at 1-under par until he played his last five holes in 5-over par.

Peters Township White scored a team total of 300, followed by North Penn (303), Cumberland Valley (305), Chambersburg (307) and a three-way for fifth among Hempfield, Conestoga Valley and Peters Township Red at 311.
