Girls' volleyball: Local players populate the Mid Penn Conference all-star team


Twenty local athletes highlighted the Mid Penn Conference girls volleyball all-star team, with six first-team selections and seven second-team choices from local schools.

Seven area athletes were also selected honorable mention.

Chambersburg's Caitlin Vrabel was the only local first team selection in the Commonwealth Division, but Lady Trojans Lauren Ching and Cara Long earned second-team honors. Lauren Diller, Kailey Layman and Danessa Martin earned honorable mention recognition for Chambersburg.

Area schools were well-represented in the Capital Division, with Waynesboro's Alyssa Taylor, Brycelin Spidel and Jordan Stoops earning first-team honors. Tyana Quivers from James Buchanan and Keri Gearhart of Greencastle-Antrim were also selected on the first team.

The Capital Division's second team includes Greencastle's Gabby Baughman and Sydney Shepherd, Waynesboro's Ciara Rosenberger and Olivia Fogelsonger, and Erica Eberly of James Buchanan.

Kayla Cummings of James Buchanan, Waynesboro's Rachel Johnson, Chloe McKenzie of Greencastle and Shippensburg's Cierra Noel all earned Capital Division honorable mentions.
