GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Tuesday's roundup

MCCONNELLSBURG 3, FANNETT-METAL 0 >> McConnellsburg earned a quick win over Fannett-Metal in a Sideling Hill/Inter-County Conference match to close out the regular season.

The Spartans won each set with a decisive 25-13 score.

Lindsey Randler had 24 assists and seven aces, while Bridgett Ritchey led with eight kills.

McConnellsburg coach Heidi Johnston said as the season winds down, the team is beginning to prepare for more competitive offenses by improving its blocking. Freshman Leah Seville aided the Spartan blocking unit Tuesday with two block-kills. Kacey Hann had four blocks for McConnellsburg (15-2, 10-1 SHL, 10-0 ICC).

"We've looked at our weaknesses as the season went on and we are working on things to improve," Johnston said. "We know offenses are going to get more competitive. We need to get some height in there and work out some kinks."

Kiana Patrick packed the leader board for Fannett-Metal (1-18, 0-12 SHL, 0-10 ICC), leading the team in kills (3), service points (6) and aces (3). Patrick also had a block and four digs.

"Not the way we wanted to end our season," Fannett-Metal coach Keri Daniel said. "But we are a young, inexperienced team and we are leading. We have high hopes for next season."

The win over Fannett-Metal secured a ICC South Championship for McConnellsburg, who will compete for the ICC Championship on Saturday against the winner of the ICC North, West Branch.
