WAYNESBORO >> For the first time since 1990, Waynesboro's girls volleyball team has finished the regular season with an undefeated record.

After dropping the first set, the Maidens came back to claim a 3-1 victory over Northern York in Mid Penn Capital Division action.

The Polar Bears won the opening set, 25-22, but were then held to 22 points or fewer in the final three games. Waynesboro (20-0, 14-0 MPC) dominated the final set, 25-13.

Alyssa Taylor once again led a well-rounded defense with 32 digs, while Kaylie Yarnell racked up 17 digs.

Jordan Stoops stuffed the stat sheet with 45 aces, six digs, three kills and an ace. Ciara Rosenberger was a dual threat for the Maidens with 15 kills and six digs.

Olivia Fogelsonger finished with 14 kills, and Rachel Johnson contributed 11 kills and a block.

MCCONNELLSBURG 3, SOUTHERN FULTON 2 >> After dropping the first set in extra points, McConnellsburg rebounded to earn a Sideling Hill/Inter-County Conference victory over Southern Fulton.

"I think inconsistency continued for us tonight, but it was a back-and-forth battle every single game," Spartan coach Heidi Johnston said. "I think if we had've pulled out Game 1, we would've had a bit more confidence, but we bounced back. It came down to the wire in Game 5; it was very close the entire end of the game."

Bridgette Ritchey led the Spartans (14-2, 9-1 SHL, 8-0 ICC) with 15 kills, while Kylie Keefer had eight kills and four blocks. Carly Swope played another well-rounded game, finishing with seven kills and 16 digs. Kailey Dils was the anchor of the defense with 23 digs, and Lindsey Randler dug 21 balls to go along with 34 assists.

"Kailey Dils, our libero, held us together on defense," Johnston said. "I have to give her a lot of credit for her fight and tenacity to keep us up. We've been talking about fighting and battling if we need to, and having intensity, so we showed those things in the end."

For the Indians (7-8, 4-6 SHL, 4-5 ICC), Shaye Smartt finished with eight kills and 10 digs, while Morgan Fitz had 11 digs. Madison Breeze had a fine night from the service line, racking up 14 points on five aces.

SHIPPENSBURG 3, WEST PERRY 2 >> Shippensburg came back from a two-set deficit to win a Mid Penn Capital match over West Perry, breaking a five-match losing streak.

The Greyhounds battled in the final three sets to earn its third win of the season.

"The girls fought hard tonight to pull a win," Shippensburg coach Suwan Kongkeattikul said. "We were down 2-0, but they kept playing hard all the way to the end and won the last three games."

Rianon McKee had 11 kills for Shippensbug (3-13, 3-11 MPC), while Eva Nye and Taylor Junkin split eight kills evenly. Maddie Miller had 17 assists.

Jess Schaffer had four kills for Fannett-Metal (1-16, 0-11 SHL, 0-9 ICC), while Kiana Patrick had nine service points and two aces.

The Tigers got better as the night went on, winning just eight points in the first set but 19 in the third.
