MERCERSBURG >> James Buchanan's girls volleyball team got off to a rough start on Thursday and could never recover.

Waynesboro won the first set of the Mid Penn Capital Division match, 25-5, and rolled to a 3-0 victory.

"We were really nervous going into the first game," JB coach Tonya Miller said. "We kind of psyched ourselves out, so I think that's why our score was so low. We played well for the second game (25-11); we just lost some big volleys. By the third game (25-21), it was a little too late."

The Rockets (1-3, 1-3 MPC) simply could not match the offensive firepower of Waynesboro (5-0, 4-0 MPC), which had three girls finish with double-digit kills. Olivia Fogelsonger led the way with 18, while Ciara Rosenberger and Alyssa Taylor had 15 and 14, respectively.

For JB, Tyana Quivers finished with three kills, three blocks and seven digs.
