GIRLS TENNIS: Thursday's roundup


CHAMBERSBURG 4, SUSQUEHANNA TWP. 1 >> Chambersburg snapped a three-match losing skid on Thursday by handing Susquehanna Township a 4-1 non-league defeat in girls tennis at Norlo Park.

Paige Sideras moved up to No. 1 singles for the Trojans (3-8) and won in straight sets, as did Cassidi Martin at No. 2, and Taryn Brechbill at No. 3. Brechbill did not allow a game to be taken.

The other win for Chambersburg came from Kara Wiley and Emma Guare at No. 2 doubles.

JAMES BUCHANAN 4, MIDDLETOWN 1 >> James Buchanan ended its Mid Penn Colonial Division season in style by blitzing Middletown.

Rachel Martin and Meredyth Sanders took easy singles victories for the Rockets (4-8, 3-7 MPC), while the doubles teams of Maggie Strawoet and Autumn Schweizer, and Rachel Poffenberger and Violet Clark also captured stress-free wins.

JB coach Terri Beegle said, "We didn't have to push a whole lot today. The doubles teams are starting to put it together and use the alleys better. It was nice to get our second win in a row."
