GIRLS TENNIS: Tuesday's roundup

BISHOP MCDEVITT 3, JAMES BUCHANAN 2 >> Despite taking a Mid Penn Colonial Division loss against Bishop McDevitt on Tuesday afternoon, James Buchanan's girls tennis team saw the strides it has made this season.

"We're so close, and we're playing so much better than earlier this year (in a 5-0 loss to the Crusaders)," JB coach Terri Beegle said. "I like what I'm seeing, even with the exhibition kids. They're picking things up and doing the things that we're asking them to do."

Rachel Martin earned a big win for the Rockets (2-8, 2-7 MPC) at No. 1 singles. She earned an 8-6 victory in the tiebreaker of the first set before winning the second, 6-1.

Also earning a victory for JB were Rachel Poffenberger and Violet Clark at No. 2 doubles. They defeated their McDevitt counterparts, 6-0, 7-5.
