GIRLS TENNIS: Monday's roundup

NORTHERN YORK 3, CHAMBERSBURG 1 >> Northern York won a close match at No. 1 doubles and two of the singles matches to claim a non-league girls tennis win over Chambersburg on Monday afternoon.

Paige Sideras captured the point for the Trojans, winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

"Paige has really improved and has learned to compete," Chambersburg coach Bill Wissinger said. "She knows all it takes to win is making more shots than errors. It's basic."

At No. 1 doubles, the Bears' Kaylee Deavor and Carly Burns took a close one over Kara Wiley and Emma Guare of the Trojans (2-8), 7-5, 2-6, 7-6.

Wissinger said, "Our team had set points in the first set, and then lost in a tiebreaker."

The No. 2 doubles match was ended early by rain.
