GIRLS TENNIS: Mercersburg Academy win IPSL title


MERCERSBURG WIN IPSL TOURNAMENT >> The Mercersburg Academy girls tennis team dusted off its racquets for its lone competition of the spring, the IPSL Championship, on Saturday.

The Blue Storm down a short-handed St. John's Catholic Prep, 4-1, and handed St. James a 6-1 defeat in the final to win the title. Mercersburg swept all of the singles matches against St. James and took two of the three doubles matches.

Allyson Chae (No. 2 singles, No. 1 doubles), Eliza Smith (No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles) and Quirina Keller (No. 4 singles, No. 2 doubles) went undefeated throughout the day, and after dropping her first-round singles match, Molly Widdoes (No. 1 singles) rebounded to dominate both her singles and doubles matches in the championship.
